This is our year!

Happy New Year!

I know I’m not the only one who was itching to kick 2022 to the curb. January 22 marks what would have been Roe v. Wade’s 50th year, and while the gut punch of Roe’s demise still lingers, I’m walking into 2023 with renewed focus and strength—and it’s all thanks to you.

We’ve launched a little video about our work - please like and share to grow our community!

With nearly $40,000 from more than 100 individual donors raised during our end-of-year campaign (over our goal and bringing our 2022 grassroots fundraising total to an amazing $220K!), Apiary is charging into the new year with the power of our incredible community at our backs.

I can’t thank you enough for being part of this growing movement with us.

We’ve got big plans for 2023, including:

  • Growing and cultivating our community hubs for practical support organizations (PSOs)—the Hivemind is now 67 organizations strong!

  • Launching our national volunteer training program and the first round of our intensive trainings to six PSO programs across the country to create or expand their practical support services

  • Generating more resources and organizing greater learning opportunities for PSOs

  • Maintaining our widely-shared list of PSOs along with the national directory of practical support organizations, clinics, and abortion funds with our partners and collaborator at ineedana.com and the National Network of Abortion Funds

  • Advancing the work of our technical assistance coalition to further align strategies and projects across the abortion access movement

  • Multiplying awareness and advocacy for PSOs through conference presentations, briefings with policymakers, and media partnerships (I’m looking forward to co-presenting with Society for Family Planning about their incredible #WeCount project this spring!)

  • Hiring more people 🐝🐝🐝

Let’s do this, 2023!

In solidarity,

Partner Spotlight: Digital Defense Fund

If you’re a reproductive health, rights, or justice organization and need tech support, reach out to DDF! They can train your team, evaluate your security processes, and even help you find funding for bigger security projects.

Since 2017, Digital Defense Fund (DDF) has been anticipating and responding to the needs of abortion providers, patients, funds, activists, and practical support groups as they navigate the digital world. While the internet has proven to be an indispensable tool for abortion access – particularly now with the increased need for practical support, medication abortion, and mobilization – it’s also rife with harassment and unwanted surveillance, leading to unforeseen kinds of manipulation, violence, and criminalization.

With their small but mighty team, the Digital Defense Fund provides training, technical support, and even funding to groups and individuals in the abortion access movement so that they can more safely and securely accomplish their critical work. Apiary is so proud to partner with DDF in numerous ways, whether we’re putting our heads together about volunteer management processes for PSOs, strategizing in our technical assistance coalition, or they’re training Hivemind members on digital security tactics

Thank you, Digital Defense Fund, for showing up for us and our movement again and again!
