Apiary’s 2023 Impact Report! 🐝

The emotional whiplash of the news each day can be overwhelming, to say the least. And when it comes to abortion access, the numbers are certainly bleak:

But despite how tough this year has been, Apiary has been buzzing with growth! From new programs and resources for practical support organizations (PSOs) to live and in-person community building and a growing team and capacity, we’ve done a LOT this year, resulting in some numbers that we’re pretty proud to share:

  • 12 states with new practical support programs we helped develop this year

  • 73 official member organizations now in our Hivemind

  • 149 people from 53 PSOs attended our Practical Support Summit

  • 152 prospective volunteers completed our training series and were connected with 23 PSOs

  • $140K regranted to practical support groups through our Blueprint program to sustain their work

Without your support, we wouldn’t have made it through this year, let alone seen this incredible impact. Our community has held us again and again, and with your continued support, I know we’ll accomplish even more in 2024.

Here are a few ways you can keep Apiary buzzing:

  1. Donate today to help us support the hundreds of PSOs and the hundreds of thousands of abortion seekers who will need to travel for healthcare.

  2. Forward this email to your networks, or share our impact report on social media.

  3. Support a great cause and gift some pro-abortion love to the special people in your life at our merch store!

With so much gratitude and appreciation for all of you,

Partner Spotlight 🔦

Provide has been an invaluable partner to us throughout the year, working with each of our programs to help us better train and support our constituents, as well as being a member of our TA Coalition so we decided to take this last newsletter of the year to shout them out! Founded in 1992 as the Abortion Access Project, they offer free professional development for healthcare and social service providers to give accurate, informed, and non-judgmental referrals for abortion care.

Their training and technical assistance support helps organizations across the country to compassionately and proactively respond to their community’s needs around abortion care and other stigmatized services, centering marginalized communities where access to abortion care is restricted.

These are just a few of their recent learning opportunities for health and social service professionals:

  • Providing quality options counseling and referrals for abortion

  • Addressing racial disparities in pregnancy counseling

  • Supporting LGBTW+ clients seeking pregnancy referrals

  • Framing abortion as a queer issue

  • Understanding self-managed abortion, intimate partner violence, and the law

Learn more about Provide and help them work toward a world in which there’s  an equitable sexual and reproductive health system that cares for the whole person with dignity and respect.
