Statement on the re-election of Donald Trump

Today is a hard day. I will be blunt—the re-election of Donald Trump is devastating and will fundamentally change not only the reality of abortion access but will re-shape the entire structure of our democracy. The work will be long and hard.

The last time Donald Trump was President, he appointed three of the justices who overturned Roe v. Wade and plunged the country into a reproductive health crisis of unimaginable proportions. Now, facing another four years of a Trump presidency, America is now facing a national abortion ban that will exacerbate this crisis and make accessing safe abortion care even more onerous for millions of folks.

In this moment of fear and uncertainty, Apiary for Practical Support is recommitting ourselves to assisting the practical support organizations (PSOs) on the ground who will respond to this ongoing crisis. These organizations, already stretched to the brink, will now have to contend with an even more hostile environment. Abortion seekers everywhere will be dealing with barriers unthinkable just a generation ago. We know that the only way out of this is by strengthening the network of practical support in this country, and that’s what we plan to do.

Continue to show up. Give to your local practical support organization. Support our work. Every abortion seeker deserves the ability to access care; we remain committed to creating a world in which that can happen.
